You are investing a lot into your Walt Disney World vacation. As your travel advisor, I’m always excited to help you find ways to save money, time, and energy. Disney World is full of surprises and magic, but when you factor in the cost of your hotel room, theme park tickets, food, souvenirs, and more, your dream vacation can become expensive. The good news is there are several ways to save money. Instead of scouring the internet for these savings tricks, I'll spare you the time and energy and share a few of my favorite ideas with you. Plus, I will show you the secrets of how to find Disney Gift Card discounts by scoring valuable cash-back and reward points at retailers, grocery stores, office supply stores, and more. DISNEY GIFT CARDS Disney Gift Cards can be used to pay for merchandise, recreation, and dining at most locations throughout the Walt Disney World Resorts and Theme Parks. They can also be used as payments for your Walt Disney World packages: resort room + tickets + dining + optional add-ons like Memory Maker and DisneyGenie+. Disney Gift Cards may be found online at disneygiftcard.com, at stores like Target, Staples, and Walmart, and wholesale clubs like Sam’s and BJ’s. PAYMENTS WITH DISNEY GIFT CARDS I am happy to apply all of your Disney Gift Cards to your vacation package as payments. Since you can purchase gift cards in a variety of denominations - starting at $25 up to $500 - you are probably going to end up with a hefty stack of cards! (ask me how I know LOL) For your protection, please bundle all of the denominations into $1000 increments on fewer cards using the Disney Gift Card site https://www.disneygiftcard.com/ Then send me a list of the consolidated Gift Card numbers and new amounts using our secure payment. BE SURE YOU SAVE ALL OF YOUR GIFT CARDS Until after your vacation. Any refunds or credits will go back to the original method of payment. Once the cards are loaded with a cash value, there are no fees, they don’t expire, and you should also treat the cards like cash and safeguard them until redeemed. Even though Disney Gift Cards are easy to use both before and during your vacation, they do not automatically save you money. However, there are a few ways to get Disney Gift Cards at a discount. HOW TO SAVE MONEY WITH DISNEY GIFT CARDS To save money, you’ll want to purchase your Disney Gift cards at a discount. TARGET - Sign up for and use a Target REDcard (debit or credit card) and when you purchase Disney Gift Cards online or in a retail store, you’ll save 5% instantly. Target often offers sales and promotions throughout the year, so it may be possible to combine the 5% back with other promotions to save even more. WHOLESALE CLUBS - If you are a member of a wholesale club, like Sam’s or BJ’s, you may find discounted Disney Gift Cards sold in bundle packs or in single cards. Typical savings range from 4-5%. When you pay for your wholesale club purchases with select credit cards, you may be eligible to receive additional discounts (in the form of cashback) on your Disney Gift Cards - increasing your overall savings! OPEN A REWARDS CREDIT CARD The important thing about this option is to not use the card as a credit card. My personal budgeting style is to pay for all purchases in cash. It’s important to me for you to know, I’m not advocating your family to take on credit card debt - neither to secure savings nor to afford your Disney World vacation. One of my favorite budget gurus frequently says, “You will never outsmart the big business of the credit card companies.” Make no mistake; credit cards are money makers for banking institutions. Whatever you purchase on them, plan to pay off the balance immediately from your household budget so you can take advantage of the rewards without accruing interest. CHASE VISA CARDMEMBERS - Earn a $300 statement credit with the Disney® Premier Visa® Card or a $150 statement credit with the No Annual Fee Disney® Visa® Card after qualifying purchases. While on vacation, you also get 10% off dining and merchandise at select Walt Disney World locations. OTHER CREDIT CARD DISCOUNTS FOR GROCERY AND OFFICE SUPPLY RETAIL STORES If you have any of the following credit cards, you may be able to purchase discounts Disney Gift Cards (via the cashback savings): American Express Blue Cash Preferred Card - which gives you 6% cashback on grocery store purchases. QUICK TIP: Add a Disney Gift Card to your grocery store purchase each week. Give them to family members as birthday or holiday gifts for their fun spending money while on vacation. Chase Ink Business Cash and American Express SimplyCash Plus Business credit cards offer 5% cashback on office supply store purchases. The Chase United MileagePlus Explorer card is another fantastic option for saving money at office supply stores while accumulating mileage points for your flight to Orlando. Discover offers their Discover it® and Discover® More® card members a generous 5% cashback on select categories and at select retailers. You’ll find these cards work well at wholesale clubs and grocery stores. One more way to apply savings to your Disney Gift Cards purchases is by using a savings widget for your online purchases. SIGN UP FOR EBATES Ebates gives you cashback when you click through their site first before buying something from another site. They also have a widget for Firefox and Chrome that will give you a pop-up box when you visit a site that can earn a rebate. The widget works on every site except Amazon. You still have to remember to click through to get Amazon rebates. The percentages vary by store and by day. They deposit money into your PayPal account or you can use it to buy a gift card (limited options). BOTTOM LINE
