Hello again, If I could let you in on a secret that could potentially amplify your happiness and rejuvenate your life, would you be interested? Well, here it is: vacations! Surprised? Let's delve a little deeper. The U.S. Travel Association tells us a staggering 768 million vacation days are left untouched by Americans. Everywhere we turn, there are articles advising on how vacations can boost productivity, improve focus, recharge our energy, and even enhance our sleep. But alas, the allure of work often causes these precious off days to evaporate. Consider vacation days as a health tonic for your well-being - trust me, their magic is undeniable! They serve as an oasis in our hustle, a spa retreat for our minds, reinvigorating, refocusing, and recharging every cell in our bodies. The result is simple yet profound: increased happiness. There's even Project Time Off, a non-profit committed to proclaiming the benefits of time off, encouraging employers to let their employees rejuvenate, and heralding the last Tuesday of January as the annual National Plan for Vacation Day! How brilliant is that? I seize this day to sketch out my annual calendar, plotting every getaway, each road trip, and those priceless date nights and hangouts with my squad. Having these on my calendar is like buying a ticket to guaranteed joy - it's bound to happen! To make travel a priority, bookmark it in your calendar today. Ask for those leaves, even if the destination is still a mystery. Just reserve that slot for some well-earned exploration. Now, if you have school-goers at home, align your plans with their academic calendars. Look at their breaks, and consider pivotal dates that require your availability at home. Two years since our home was ringing with school buzz, my schedule remarkably hangs onto those school-year constraints. For instance, my son and husband participate in the annual Special Olympics Softball in Southern Georgia, coinciding with the start of our county's Fall Break. So, why not nudge that trip further into Orlando, possibly touch base at Universal, or even set sail from Port Canaveral? Who can resist a strike of travel inspiration? Don't miss out on multi-gen adventures, too. We aim for at least one a year, inviting a couple of grandkids to make memories together. Including school breaks in our plan still matters to our evolving clan. And you shouldn’t forget those breather moments. My husband, having switched from a traditional job to working independently, can adjust his schedule for our next journey. His mantra is as heartening as it's simple: "Just tell me where to be and when!" Before anything takes life in my official Google or family calendars, I make sure to mull over, shuffle, and secure those plans. Having a bird's eye view of the year gives us a well-balanced schedule, full to the brim, but not overflowing. Once the dates are fixed and the rates are released, it's time to seize the best deals and selections!
